Leading North East fashion retailer Master Debonair will crown Best Dressed Man at this year’s Northumberland Plate Day.

Taking place on Saturday 29th June, Newcastle Racecourse’s famous race day is one of the most popular meetings in its calendar which includes a two-mile heritage handicap worth £150,000 - the richest two-mile handicap in Europe.

The Master Debonair team will select its top ‘Best Dressed’ men on the day, with a live announcement to crown the 2019 winner. The man judged to be the most fashionable will win a Master Debonair suit worth £250.

Racegoers looking for any last-minute accessories to perfect their outfit on the day will have the opportunity to visit an exclusive Master Debonair pop-up shop, which will feature a whole host of debonair pieces such as tweed caps, pocket watches and squares.

The race day will be followed by live entertainment from popular English Ska band, Madness who will be performing a full set to round off an exciting day.

Deborah Scott, sponsorship manager at Newcastle Racecourse, said “We are delighted to partner with Master Debonair for the 2019 Northumberland Plate Day. Encouraging racegoers to dress for the occasion is a real focus for prestigious events, and to have Master Debonair sponsoring the Best Dressed Male competition on Plate Day will inspire the crowds into dressing to impress. We cannot wait to see the suits and attire that the gentlemen attend the races in this summer!”

Eve Whitaker, creative director at Master Debonair said: “We’re thrilled to be sponsoring Best Dressed Man at this year’s Northumberland Plate Day, it’s Newcastle Racecourse’s biggest event of the year so it’s really exciting for us. Our styling team will be scouting the crowds on the day so guys all we can say is make sure you dress to impress!”

The sponsorship follows the East Boldon firm’s latest retail successes which include a three-story store expansion announcement of its flagship store and a recent new store in London at 49 Commercial Street.

Founded by husband and wife team Simon and Eve Whitaker three years ago, the award-winning company now employs 30 people across its North East signature store and head office, where its private showroom, offices and distribution centre are also based.
