Thursday Floodlit Flat Racing

Thursday Floodlit Racing at Newcastle Racecourse 2027

Get your Thursday plans sorted with floodlit flat racing at Newcastle Racecourse. Horse racing in March is a great way to bring friends, family or colleagues together for live sport under the lights, with the weekend just around the corner.

Kick-start your weekend at the races

Friday might still be a day away, but there's no reason to wait to get everyone together. Swap your usual Thursday routine for a trip to Gosforth Park, grab a drink and enjoy the build-up as the horses prepare to race.

Take a walk to the parade ring for a closer look at the runners before heading trackside. Find your spot by the rail and listen as the hooves get louder, then join the cheers as the horses race towards the finishing line.

You can also watch from the Grandstand for a wider view of the action. Wherever you stand, there's plenty to follow as the racing unfolds.

March racing beneath the floodlights

The days are getting longer and spring is beginning to make itself felt, but Newcastle's floodlights are still lighting up the all-weather track.

Wrap up for the cool March air and enjoy some fast-paced flat racing with your favourite people. Pick a horse to cheer on, catch up over a drink between races and head towards the winner's enclosure to see the celebrations after the finish.

It's a chance to enjoy something different during the working week, with live racing right in front of you.
