Thursday Floodlit Flat Racing

Thursday Floodlit Racing at Newcastle Racecourse 2027

Make more of your Thursday with floodlit flat racing at Newcastle Racecourse. Horse racing in January is a great excuse to round up your friends, wrap up warm and swap your usual weekday routine for some live sport under the lights.

Thursday under the floodlights

There's something different about watching racing after dark. The floodlights shine across the all-weather track as the horses get ready to race, and you've got a great view of the action from trackside.

Head to the parade ring to see the horses up close before finding your spot by the rail. Hear the hooves thundering down the home straight and join the cheers as the horses charge towards the finishing line.

Bring your mates, grab some hot food and a drink and enjoy a Thursday night out with live racing at the centre of it.

Brighten up January

Cold January weather doesn't have to mean staying indoors. Get your friends or family together, wrap up warm and enjoy some floodlit flat racing at Gosforth Park.

Newcastle's all-weather track keeps the racing going throughout the winter, giving you a good reason to get out and break up the working week. Find a spot close to the action, cheer on your favourite and enjoy something different this January.
