Newcastle Racecourse has announced a new partnership for the upcoming Northumberland Plate Festival, teaming up with Ad Gefrin Anglo-Saxon Museum & Whisky Distillery, Northumberland’s newest and most exciting visitor destination, recently awarded Best New Tourism Business 2025 in the country by Visit England in their Awards for Excellence.
Every winning owner at Newcastle Racecourse throughout the Northumberland Plate Festival will receive a bottle of the Tácnbora – (meaning ‘Standard Bearer in Old English) Ad Gefrin’s inaugural whisky blend.
Regional Director, David Williamson shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration:
“We’re delighted to welcome Ad Gefrin as a partner for the Northumberland Plate Festival and hope this will be the beginning of a long-term relationship. We recently visited the Ad Gefrin Distillery and discovered the story behind it, which we’re excited to share this with our owners, trainers, and the wider racing community associated with Newcastle”
The partnership is a natural fit, uniting Newcastle Racecourse’s rich sporting tradition with Ad Gefrin Distillery’s celebration of Northumbrian heritage, craftsmanship, and hospitality — offering a unique and authentic experience for racegoers and visitors alike.
Andy Ross, Managing Director, Ad Gefrin, comment “ We are absolutely delighted in this new partnership. We are literally distilling what it means to be Northumbrian, and aim to celebrate the best that the North East has to offer. Everything we do, everything we create is about bringing people together – celebrating a sense of belonging – and a day at Newcastle races couldn’t be a better occasion to do this.”
