Newcastle Racecourse have hailed Saturday’s annual Ladies Day fixture a huge success. With over 17,000 in attendance from across the North East, Newcastle Racecourse Ladies Day is renowned for its unique blend of style, sport and celebration.
On the track, the fixture delivered an exciting eight race card, headlined by the Seat Unique Beeswing Handicap, won by Brian Ellison’s Callianassa.
Hospitality for the day was sold out, with over 1,300 customers alongside 400 racehorse owners in attendance. In total, attendance for the day was up 23% on 2024.
History was also made at Newcastle Racecourse as Bruce Dickens, 77, became the first ever male winner of the Ladies Day Style Awards - turning heads and taking home the coveted top prize with his dapper outfit.
Wearing a custom forest green Moss Bros jacket, with ‘designed by Bruce Dickens’ embroidered to the silk inside, he paired it with deep maroon and brown accessories, Bruce was every inch the racing gent and charmed both judges and racegoers alike with his style and flair.
The stylish standout beat hundreds of fashionable hopefuls to claim the title on Saturday 26 July, during the biggest Ladies Day since before the pandemic.
“We are delighted with the turnout,” said Executive Director Paul Elliott. “The atmosphere at the Racecourse was electric throughout the afternoon and it’s clear that Ladies Day continues to be one of the highlights of the summer calendar in the North East.”
“We would like to thank everyone who made the day so special, our partners, sponsors and staff and we are already planning on how to set the bar even higher next year.”
